The Shoujo with Male Lead, Childhood Friends, First Love Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu is actually a spin-off of Aoki Kotomi-sensei's Boku wa Imouto ni Koiwosuru (I Love My Younger Sister), but BokuKimi trumps the sibcestuous (smutlicious) BokuImo by running away with the 53rd Shogakukan Manga Awards in the Shoujo category.

I Give My First Love to You spans 12 rivers of tears volumes, the last tank releasing in Japan in August 2008. Volume 1 contains a special Motto Ikitai..., which features two little kids scaring themselves silly after hearing a ghost story, but still mustering the courage to investigate whether the story is based on fact.

☞ I Give My First Love to You is also the title of the movie adaptation starring Okada Masaki (Sekime Kyogo in Hanazakari no Kimitachi e: Ikemen Paradise) as Kakunouchi Takuma and Inoue Mao (Makino Tsukushi, Hana Yori Dango) as Taneda Mayu. If one were to count—even subtracting the hyperbole—Kanata has confessed his love to Hina at least a hundred times. No mean feat that. Unfortunately for Kanata, Hina has never seen him as more than a childhood friend. Still, Kanata never expected to lose Hina, especially not to Shugo!

After four-week hiccup, m&c! finally double-launches Minase Ai's Therefore, Please Choose Me, originally Dakara Ore ni Shina yo serialized in Sho-Comi (starting 2008, a year before Kyaaa~! Narumi~♡ Namida Usagi ~Tears of First Love~ launched).

Your Mileage Will Most Likely Vary—especially if you absolutely lurve, lurve, LURVE! NamiUsa, or anything of Minase Ai-sensei—but I have issues with Therefore, Please Choose Me. So don't read my impressions of the Delinquents, Gangs, Childhood Friends, Love Triangle series »hidden here.

Yes, I get that Girls want Bad Boys, I do. But this is one time I sooo wanted the Unlucky Osananajimi to win, especially as he is moar heroic. Contrast Kanata with not my choice jerk hero who delivers TDTL Hina to the bad guys and *watches*—for. Too. Long!—before getting off his b*tt and saving her. That to me was Shugo's irredeemable sin, the reason for why I couldn't give this two-volume manga more than a 6 of 10, or a C+.

Verdict: Borrow if you must.

Before publishing My Handsome Pet or Pet wa Binyanko, m&c! released Miyake Madoka's Watashi no Tonari ni Cute na Kimi, retitling it The Cute One Beside Me and issuing the one volume as part of last year's Love is Everywhere attack. Telor Ceplok reviewer Lina-chan gave The Cute One Beside Me a grade of 8 of 10♡.

Miyake Madoka-sensei is not what you call a prolific manga-ka and her/his backlist (at the time of this writing) only contained three titles and one participation in a shoujo omnibus. The third title, Bitter na Kokuin, was published here in Indonesia by 3L Comics as Bitter Stamp With A Die; the (unlicensed) Sho-Comi Men's Collection antho to which Miyake Madoka contributed was Neko Kare Kūru (Flower Comics tankou per 2010.07.26) headlined by Minami Kanan (KyouKoi).

Adaptations
A JC Staff anime OAD, starring seiyuu Itō Kanae (Hibino Tsubaki) and Namikawa Daisuke (Tsubaki Kyota). The first episode was bundled with manga volume 9 (Japan release: 2010.06.25), the second with volume 10 (2010.10.26). The third episode released as a standard and premium DVD (2011.02.25).

A special drama CD was also given away with Sho-Comi's June 2008 issue and featured Satō Rina as Tsubaki and Kondō Takashi as Kyota.

A Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu: Hatsukoi no Prelude light novel was written by Takase Yunoka. Manga-ka Minami Kanan oversaw production of the novel which reprises the Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu story from Kyota's point of view. The novel streeted February 2010.

A live-action Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu film was announced in Sho-Comi's December 2011 issue. Takei Emi and Matsuzaka Tori star as Hibino Tsubaki and Tsubaki Kyota. Filming was expected to begin early January 2012; the movie is scheduled for a 2012 premiere.

Adaptations
The first anime OAD was bundled with Sho-Comi's first 2010 issue (released 2009.12; chapter 1 reenactment), the second with the Suki desu Suzuki-kun!! Official Fanbook (shipped 2010.07; chapters 15 and 16 re-enactment; fanbook released by 3L in January 2012). Seiyuu Asakura Azumi, Oda Hirofumi, Iwasaki Ryō and Isshiki Mayu voiced Hoshino Sayaka, Suzuki Hikaru, Suzuki Shinobu and Itō Chihiro respectively.

Two light novels written by Tokiumi Yui and illustrated by Ikeyamada Go have also been released. The first, Suki desu Suzuki-kun!! Pure White Love (2009.12.24), detailed Hikaru and Sayaka's relationship during the couple's last year of middle school. The second Suki desu Suzuki-kun!! With Precious Heart light novel (2010.07.26) is set before the high school arc/between manga volumes 7 and 8.

A Nintendo DS game—Suki desu Suzuki-kun!! ~Yo-nin no Suzuki-kun—released in 2010.07. Per the title, the game introduces two new Ikeyamada-sensei designed characters also surnamed Suzuki: Suzuki Michiru (voiced by Hoshi Sōichirō) and Suzuki Hiroto (Nakamura Yūichi). Game versions of Sayaka, Hikaru, Shinobu and Chihiro were voiced by Takita Juri, Miyata Kōki, Kondou Takashi and Taketatsu Ayana. A limited edition of the Idea Factory game came with a drama CD featuring a story about the four main characters.
