Midnight Lolita by Shiumi Saki, The Reason for Falling in Love and Stupid Love by Nanao Mio (m&c! manga out nau~) [UPDATED]

Street date: 25 July 2012
I missed posting this Hella-Long-NikBabble™ on the day, so the comments are open (not that they aren't always) to whomever wants to share their impreshuns and ratings of the above shoujo titles, as well as the other m&c! newbies.
Update: Reverted Goong's total volume count back to 27, the last volume, as confirmed by m&c!. (Which makes me wonder exactly where this 궁 28Goong 28—fits.)

Stupid Love , The Reason for Falling in Love (m&c!)

Oroka Mono no Koi · Kanojo ga Kare ni Ochiru Wake © Nanao Mio
Shogakukan [First serialized in Cheese!]. Published in Indonesia as Stupid Love and The Reason for Falling in Love by Gramedia/m&c!

Yes, yes, Most Wanted Manga remains Shiumi Saki's Midnight Lolita (MayonakaLolita ex-Sho-Comi Zoukan), but as m&c! is on a Nanao Mio roll—her Your Eyes Speak to Me streets next week—letting you feast on this week's Nanao Mio eyecandy. (As TC manga critic Lina-chan vouches, hawt bishies are hawt.) At any rate, Midnight Lolita's (Fake) Loli-cious cover isn't one of Shiumi Saki's best IMO (albeit that feint didn't stop me from giving it an 8 of 10♡...wait. Getting ahead of myself. Nanao Mio's The Reason for Falling In Love first:

Shameless kohai! But my heart pounds whenever I'm alone with you. And you press your advantage and kiss me?! That was my first kiss!

I can't stand you, but why do I find myself falling for you!?

I gave the above-blurbed antho christener a 7 of 10 or B, but The Reason for Falling In Love also collects one-shots Umbrella Girl (also a 7/10), Sugar and Bitter Chocolate (7.25, still a B), the Christmas-troped I'll Tell You in The Holy Night (the top-notcher of the bunch, netting a grade of B+ or 7.75/10) and the cracktastic Story in the Backstage that carries this manga-ka warning: This story will destroy your image of the characters in the original story! (Rated a "Hancur! LMAO!" 7.25 of 10.)

Stupid Love
By Nanao Mio (still)

He's totally not my type! He's evil! Sadly, he's also my brother's best friend... And when he takes off his glasses, I can't help but be captivated. His gaze penetrates my very soul...

Three-act Stupid Love gets a B- or 6.5 of 10 from me, but I'm sure someone else *looks in Lina-chan's direction* gave it a much higher grade. Stupid Love IS compellingly readable but [SPOILER!!!] the emotional cliffie on which it hangs precludes a higher commendation. Yes, despite me being the Glasses! fangirl that I am. (I differ from our heroine Nozomi-chan in that regard.)

Stupid Love also contains the Love Sick one-shot featuring a siscon—and he's not even her blood sib!—which scores higher at 6.75/10 (still in B- territory, however). Capping the volume is the two-paged Brothers Club—every male chara here is someone's older brother—which I awarded a 6.5.

Both The Reason for Falling in Love and Stupid Love are Cheese! (if not Cheese! Zoukan) serials, if we go by the Cheese! FC on the Kanojo ga Kare ni Ochiru Wakeand Oroka Mono no Koi covers. Cheese!, featuring manga that prioritize mature relationships (read: smut), is also home to Aoki Kotomi's Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru, streeting this week as Love Lies. KanoUso's provenance more than accounts for why this title is rated for   Mature or Dewasa audiences... And again I'm jumping the gun. I should be babbling about—

Other Nanao Mio manga
m&c! introduced us to Nanao Mio-sensei with the Awww, he likes her... Kiss & Regret, dethroned from second place (I gave it a 7.5 of 10 or B+) by the TRFFIL I'll Tell You in the Holy Night one-shot. Kiss to Koukai serialized in Cheese! Zoukan and is apparently Nanao Mio's debut tank.

Before The Reason for Falling in Love and Stupid Love, m&c! released Flow of Love or Suiren, my highest-scoring Nanao Mio title. I gave the "Do you need artificial respiration?" Flow of Love an 8 of 10♡ (A-), the same grade Lina-chan did.

And as preempted earlier, m&c! releases (this coming Wednesday, 1 August) Your Eyes Speak to Me or Sono Me, Kuchi hodo ni. (Cheese! FC: 2011.08).

Nanao Mio-sensei's latest serial is the Mangaka × Editor office romance Pen Saki ni Syrup, currently running in Cheese! (one volume as of May 2012). Nanao Mio also crafted the Older Female/Younger Male, Student/Teacher Aka no Yuuwaku one-shot for Cheese! Zoukan in 2011, and contributed to the Smut much? Erotic Horror antho in 2009. (Other contributors to this omnibus include Shimaki Ako,Yamada Komomo, Watanabe Shiho and Ichikawa Chihiro.)

Hello World

The Drops of God 13, Bambino Secondo 4, Gisele Alain 1 by Kasai Sui (Level Comics manga out nau~)

Not to forget — Ice Forest 8.
Street date: 25 July 2012

Before top DO WANT! The Drops of God and Bambino! Secondo...(You know you've been wondering about Giséle Alain. Admit it. :D)

Giséle Alain 1 (Level Comics)

Giséle Alain © Kasai Sui
Enterbrain [Serialized in Fellows!]
Published in Indonesia by Level Comics

Aristocrat Gisele Alain is a lady of great curiosity. She leaves home and goes into the Jack (Jill) of All Trades trade — to help people in need, but also to satisfy her overwhelming curiosity about the world she lives in and life in general.

Eric, one of her tenants, is drafted as assistant (he complies because of rent arrears). Although Eric complains volubly, he's always ready to assist Gisele, and need help she does on several fronts — from kitty lost-and-found to woods patrol.

Gisele Alain (and Eric), at your service!

The Smart if Naïve Female Lead, Runaway from Home episodic historical slice of life Giséle Alain serializes in Enterbrain's seinen mangazine Fellows!. Three Beam Comix volumes out in Japan as of this June.

Only found one fellow Fellows! manga credited to Kasai Sui-sensei other than Giséle Alain and that's the Tsukiyo no Toratsugumi antho (JP release: 2011.05), which includes the side story Hana no Mori no Majo-san or Witch of the Flower Forest.

I preview the other Level premiere, Karate Master Minoru, after the jump. For now, Most Wanted:

The Drops of God vol 13 of (33+)
By Agi Tadashi & Okimoto Shu

Shizuku and Loulan sort out the wine just in time, but Shizuku still searches—grape fruitlessly?—for a vino to complement spicy Korean food, primarily kimchi. Will Shizuku ever find the elusive vintage?

Also, the battle to identify the 4th Apostle gets underway. The theme this time: first Love~

Relieved to hear we're back to the Twelve Apostles. Or nine, as the case may be, plus that there "Drops of God." For a while I thought K-invasion eclipsed Kami no Shizuku's original compelling premise. :p

Just kidding!

Thirty-three Kami no Shizuku: Les Gouttes de Dieu tanks have been published in Japan as of May 2012. The 34th releases on 23 August.

Still in the wine—and food—biz:

Bambino! Secondo vol 4 (of 11+)
By Sekiya Tetsuji

Just when Legare can't plunge any lower, Ban hears about a mythic waiter who, during his (her?) time, reportedly revolutionized Yokohama's food service. But the clock is ticking, and it's been a decade since the legend disappeared.

Can Ban locate the former megastar before Legare's prospects dim for good?

C0de:Breaker 1 by Kamijyo Akimine, Natsume Yujincho 3, The World God Only Knows 2 (Elex Media manga out nau~) [UPDATED]

Street date: 25 July 2012
Update: Snuck in Shonen Star Issue 13, which apparently streeted on this date.

C0de:Breaker 1 (Elex Media)

C0de:Breaker © by Kamijyo Akimine
Kodansha [Serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine]
Published in Indonesia by Elex Media

If you've been reading the Indonesian ShoMagz from cover to cover since 2010—7 April 2010, to be exact—I don't need to pull a NikBabble™ on Kamijyo Akimine's C0de:Breaker. If you haven't, and missed my way back when blurb, recycling it here:

New transfer student Oogami Rei is a Code Breaker, a government assassin with mysterious powers who believes in justice not mercy — even if it means using evil to defeat evil. Highschooler/martial artist Sakurakouji Sakura witnesses Oogami in killing action and decides that as an eye for an eye philosophy leaves the whole world blind, she will stop Rei.

Our determined heroine doesn't need to worry about an opportunity window for Rei stoppage becase, having seen what his fatal blue flame does, she's slated to be the next to burn! [From Del Rey's Code:Breaker, Vol. 1 description]

So does our lex talionis vigilante Rei mete out punishment commensurate to the “evil” Sakura committed? You know what to do if you can't stand not knowing. :D

C0de:Breaker runs in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. The first Japanese tank streeted in October 2008, the 19th came out last week (2012.07.17). As fellow fangirl/TC contributor and resident fan artist baka-girl notes, there's no sign the series is ending any time soon. :D

C0de:Breaker volume 1 compiles C0des (chapters) 1 to 5: Awal mula sang saksi mata, Orang yang tidak termaafkan, Gadis api, Menuju hari esok and Setan yang penuh luka. (For more recent C0des, check out back issues till the newest Shonen Magz, which released two weeks ago.

The C∅DE:BREAKER anime is skedded to premiere this October 2012, with seiyuu Okamoto Nobuhiko (Okumura Rin in Blue Exorcist) as Rei and Hikasa Yōko (Akiyama Mio, K-ON!) as Sakura.

The name "Kamijyo Akimine" shouldn't be unfamiliar to you, not if you've read—or even just saw 'em on book shelves—Samurai Deeper Kyo. Before C0de:Breaker and after SDK, Kamijyo Akimine-sensei worked on Shirogane no Karasu, also serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.

A handful more Elex titles debut this release (Devil with Flower!), but I preview them after the cut. For now, runner-up DO WANT!

Natsume Yujincho vol 3 (of 14+)
By Midorikawa Yuki

Famous actor slash ghostbuster Natori tracks down his spirit quarry to Natsume's hometown, and since he's already there, invites Natsume to a mini exorcist convention so that our incredibly kind Natsume can meet other people who exercise similar spiritual powers.

But will the meeting really benefit Natsume? Especially when his abilities surpass those of the attendees and he has That. Yujincho.

At any rate, Natsume busies himself per usual returning the names his grandmother trapped in her book and helping the local yokai with their problems. But he has to put his good deeds on hold when a black Nyanko Sensei snatches the Book of Friends! Takashi and the real Nyanko trail the bad cat to a secret yokai meeting deep in the forest. Will they be in time to stop the impostor's wicked plans?! [From VIZ Media's Natsume's Book of Friends, Vol. 3 description]

Fourteen volumes of the first Manga Taishō finalist have been released in Japan as of early July 2012. The fourth Natsume Yujincho anime season also wrapped last March.

The World God Only Knows vol 2 (of 18+)
By Wakaki Tamiki

Since entering into a pact to capture Loose Souls, Keima has had to neglect his beloved bishoujo games. Not only does the Capturing God have to spend time winning the hearts of 3D girls he detests, he also has to fend off a “little sister” who just can't be dissuaded from taking care of him.

The second The World God Only Knows volume covers the Kanon Nakagawa and Shiomiya Shiori arcs—chapters 7 through 16—IDOL BOMB!! · UP TO BOY · Am I Ordinary? · Shining Star (Shonen Sunday title: Single Star) · Ellie SO SWEET · Coupling/With · The Inside and Outside of a Big Wall · Inside of Me...... · Open the Door · The Last Day [*NOT Elex/Shonen Star chapter titles]

The newest The World God Only Knows chapter (newest for Indonesia, that is) is in Shonen Star 12/2012, which streeted 11 July. (If you haven't stumbled on to ShoStar 12 in your fave Gramed yet, check again this week. That thing reportedly shipped in two batches.
