Moonlight Act 4, The Knight in the Area 8, Dear Boys Act3 vol 8 (Elex Media manga out nau~) [UPDATED]

Street date: 4 July 2012
I'm back — did you miss me? .::is greeted with silence::. Ah, well, even if no one noticed I was gone, still posting this NikBabble™-free Elex shopping list before the next 7.11 manga release runs me over. :p
Update: Retroactive NikBabble™.

Moonlight Act 4 (Elex Media)

Gekkou Jourei © Fujita Kazuhiro/Shogakukan [Serialized in Shonen Sunday]. Published in Indonesia as Moonlight Act by Elex Media

What led the faerie tale princess to go Psycho mode ON! in the real world? Cinderella bares all to Gekko! (Figuratively, that is.) Even so, the insanity doesn't stop because after Cinderella queues Kikimimi Zukin, Pinocchio, and Warashibe Choja.

Moonlight Act volume 4 annotations: You know who Pinocchio—Article 6's star—is, but Article 5's Kiki mimi zukin is a kindly poor man who saves a fox and is given a magic hat that gives him the ability to understand wildlife and thus save a rich man's daughter. Article 7's Warashibe Choja or the Straw Millionaire is the leading man of the rags-to-riches mukashi banashi about a man who just had no luck at all. But one day this all changed, and it started with a single stalk of wara, or straw. No matter how benign these characters sound, they're sure to turn certifiable in Fujita Kazuhiro's blue moonlight. (After all, fairy tales are really Nightmare Fuel.)

Aside from Kikimimi Zukin, Pinocchio and Warashibe Choja, Hansel and Gretel apparently enter stage left in Article 8 and we make the acquaintance of another storybook character あまんじゃくとうりこひめ (Amanji Yakutourikohime?) in Article 9.

Eighteen Gekkou Jourei tanks have been compiled in Japan as of May this year. The 19th premieres this 17 August.

07-GHOST 6, QED 40, Break Blade 1 by Yoshinaga Yunosuke (Elex Media manga out nau~)

Street date: 2 May 2012

Break Blade 1 (Elex Media)

Break Blade © Yoshinaga Yunosuke/Flex Comix
[Serialized in FlexComix Blood]
Published in Indonesia by Elex Media

In a world where everyone owns the ability to control quartz, Rygart Arrow proves the exception. But his very inability to manipulate the only energy source capable of charging machines just might prove the salvation of his home in a coming war.

See, the thing is, Arrow finds a powerful, ancient battle suit that no one else can run, a mecha that may just turn Arrow into the most important player of all in the conflict dead ahead. [From the CMX Broken Blade Vol. 1 preview]. Now for the next thing: Arrow faces a sticky quandary — save his country or save his friends? Not only is Arrow old friends with the monarchs of his country, Krisna, he's also buddy-buddy with Zess who heads the mech army assault on Arrow's home.

How to choose?

So after a week's delay, Elex launches Break Blade, Yoshinaga Yunosuke's shounen War, Childhood Friends, Reluctant Hero, Conflicting Loyalties, Piloted Robots manga serialized in the free online web comic magazine FlexComix Blood. Ten Break Blade tankou have been compiled in Japan as of August 2011, and six anime movies by Production I.G and XEBEC have been made from the mecha adventure/tragedy, with seiyuu Hoshi Souichiro voicing Rygart Arrow, Kamiya Hiroshi - Zess, Nakamura Yuuichi - Hodr (Krisna the 9th) and Saito Chiwa as Hodr's queen, Sigyn Erster.

Break Blade's manga-ka Yoshinaga Yunosuke also created Metal Wind, first serialized in Kodansha's now defunct seinen magazine Uppers (five volumes compiled between 2000.11 and 2002.05) and the Three Kingdoms Period set Rampage also first serialized in Uppers but which only managed to release one compilation under that Kodansha label before being picked up by Softbank Creative, which continued the manga in the shounen FlexComix Blood and the seinen web comic FlexComix Next (three volumes published from 2008.04 to 2008.11, ongoing).

I preview the other Elex premiere, the Otaku, Demons, Game, Genius, Arrogant Male Lead, Play or Die Situation, Goddesses The World God Only Knows by Wakaki Tamiki after the release list. For now, we move to 07-GHOST, the top DO WANT! this week.

To reach Seele, the holy land that grants any wish for the price of one's soul, Teito must amass the seven ‘Cursed Talismans’ safeguarded by the God Houses. Pursuit of the first bewitched ticket takes Teito to the doorstep of House Hausen, where resides the seal of Fest...

[Additions from Chuang Yi's 07-GHOST Vol.6- and Kazé Editions: 07-Ghost Tome 6 previews]

07-GHOST volume 6 compiles Kapitel (chapters) 30 through 35: Hausen House 2–4; Barrier 5; Candle Flame; Aspiration (Kapitel 34.5); and The Hated One. [*NOT Elex chapter titles]

Thirteen 07-GHOST tankou have been published in Japan as of December 2011; the 14th streets in Japan on 25 June 2012.

The Knight in the Area 5, Yozakura Quartet 5, Energetic Boys by Misslin (Elex Media 18 April 2012 manga and manhua) [UPDATED]

GET! pledges were slow in coming, so anything beyond top DO WANT! The Knight in the Area is fair game for the post title. (Actually, the first runner-up should've been Smash! 8, but as there's a Not 0% chance of its postponement—see this Elex' Sneak Peak for 25 April 2012—decided to leave it off.)
Update: Yup, Smash! 8 got moved to 4.25, so transferring it to that release post.

Zixi loves dancing and this certain girl in near equal parts. Unfortunately, the girl in question likes an upperclassman. Can Zixi dance his way out of his dilemma: Help his dream girl get her dream guy, or keep her for himself.

A sweet story with d'awwwsome art sez Elex of this one-volume shoujo manhua. That, the preview above, the artist and the original publisher are about all I know re: Energetic Boys, one of three Elex debuts this week.

Before I get to the other two premieres (Doraemon fans are in for a treat), Awaiteds first —

The Knight in the Area vol 5 of 30+
By Igano Hiroaki & Tsukiyama Kaya

FC and SC fight for the right to represent the school in the nationals. Operating on instinct, Kakeru and teammates don't seem to stand a chance against SC. (Not to mention that SC is actually the official Enoshima soccer team.) FC refuses to give up or give in, however, a move that turns out right on the money because...that guy returns to the pitch!

Who "returns"? You'll have to get paws on The Knight in the Area volume 5 to satisfy your curiosity. That is, if you haven't already done so by resorting to the anime :) (Area no Kishi episode 15 aired last Saturday.)

Yozakura Quartet vol 5 of 11+

A necromancer who knows Rin wants his wayward toy back.

Can they [Akina and Hime] stop the hunters from using dark magic to destroy their peaceful town? asks Del Rey in its Yozakura Quartet, Vol 5 preview. Me: What do you think?
