arc. Arrancar, taken from the Spanish for ‘To Tear Off’
are mask-less Hollows with combat skills and powers that mirror those of Soul Reapers, making them essentially Shinigami-Hollow Hybrids. Especially powerful Arrancars were assigned ten numbers by [Shinigami captain turned traitor] Sōsuke Aizen and came to be known as the Espada.
